Cavitex kicks off its annual coastal cleanup drive

Parañaque City – – True to its commitment of being an environmentally conscious and responsible corporation, Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), in partnership with Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and the Philippine Air Force joined hands for a coastal cleanup on September 7, 2019 at Cavitex Mangrove Park, Parañaque City.

Joined by 60 volunteers from the Philippine Air Force and Volunteer Employees of South Tollways (VEST) and CAVITEX Advocates for the Restoration of Environment (CARE), Cavitex continues to raise awareness and establish a holistic program for pollution control and habitat protection through the spirit of volunteerism.

The Cavitex Mangrove Area is a catch basin for garbage washed up from the shores of Manila Bay. Hazardous wastes coming from medical and clinical sectors, households and construction sites polluted the waterways and endangered the local marine life.

The state of accumulated garbage alarmed the employees and in 2014, employee-volunteers gathered together and conducted the first coastal clean up and carried the activity year on year.

This initiative inspired the creation the LEAF (Living in Environment of Aqua-Flora and Fauna) Program of Cavitex. Today, the program continues to move communities and engage them for the implementation of its long-term and need-based environmental CSR projects.

Cavitex expands its network to implement greening projects with the government, the private sector and the neighboring communities.
