Last March 28, 2019, CAVITEX together with PRA and PEATC hosted the annual celebration of Toll Regulatory Board’s Advocacy Caravan for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment at the Casa Ibarra Events Venue, Pasay City. The said event was well attended by various toll road companies and concessions, as well as representatives from different government agencies.
But come to think of it, what’s in it for us celebrating this kind of gathering?
Also known as GAD Caravan, this event is in line with the celebration of Women’s Month which happens every March. With this year’s theme “We Make Change Work for Women”, TRB wants to recognize the female workforce in the tollways industry.
Being new in this industry, I was surprised to see that there were ladies handling jobs from once I thought was mostly dominated by men. From the one holding key positions in the company, to the support groups handling Traffic, Patrol, Security and Investigation – you name it, there is a strong and empowered woman holding that post whole heartedly and with utmost passion.
“The empowered woman is beyond measure, and beyond beautiful. There is no limit in what we as women can accomplish”, said Usec. Catalina Cabral in her message delivered by DPWH Bureau of Design Director Lea N. Delfinado.
Here in MPT South, we have several female employees holding key positions in the company. One of them is Ms. Estelita “Ella” A. Francisco, AVP for Operations Management. She inspired everyone with her story on how she started her journey and worked her way to where she is now.
In general, the event was a success, thanks to the hardworking team behind the implementation of this year’s GAD Caravan. As what Ms. Josephine Turbolencia of TRB said, “…CAVITEX raised the standards which should be at least met by succeeding host company. Dir. Sales commended the program flow and showing of SDE pictures.”
