The food tour was an idea conceptualized two years ago when the management of Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) was innovating ways of helping promote weekend traffic or what is called in the tollway industry as tourism traffic. The day-to-day customers of CAVITEX are mostly employees, businessmen and students residing in Cavite and need to go to their destination in Metro Manila. Part of CIC’s efforts include the Southern Sojourn, a familiarization tour for motoring editors, writers and bloggers held last year and made possible thru a partnership with Pico de Loro and Peugeot. In the last two years there has been a significant increase in weekend traffic with the opening of the Kaybiang Tunnel in Ternate connecting Cavite to Batangas, and cutting travel time to Nasugbu from 2.5 hrs. via SLEX to just 1.5 hrs via CAVITEX.
We first thought of calling this activity Cavitex Culinary Convoy and realized that we needed to partner with a respected individual in the culinary, design and travel arena and a home grown talent from Cavite to get more mileage for the activity. There aren’t too many people that fit the criteria but if you search via Google chances are that the name of Ige Ramos will be on top of the list.
The idea was to collaborate with Ige Ramos and identify the different destinations in Cavite offering delectable delights ranging from centuries old recipes, signature desserts, coffee specialties to traditional liquor.
The more than 50 editors, writers, photographers, bloggers and advocates will assemble in SM Mall of Asia at 7AM and kick off Lasa ng Republika with a trip to Malen’s Restaurant in Noveleta for their “Magdiwang Traditional Cavite Breakfast”. Ige Ramos and the Cavitex marketing team have come up with several destinations that will not only enrich one’s cultural and historical knowledge of the Philippines but something that will surely entice their taste buds.
As we commemorate the 118th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation together with Easydrive and Mr. Ige Ramos bring you Lasa ng Republika.
