MPT SOUTH Spreads Christmas Joy to Silang’s Young Hearts

Embracing the true essence of Christmas in the festive spirit, Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), organized ‘Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South’ gift-giving activity and spread holiday cheer to over 150 kids in Silang, Cavite.

On Saturday, December 2, MPT South’s pool of volunteer employees joined hands to create a memorable Christmas experience for the young hearts in the community of Barangay Munting Ilog through partnering with the Barangay Munting Ilog Elementary School. The event featured various activities including gift-giving, exciting games, a magic show, and a feeding program.

In addition to this, MPT South is donating over 600 grocery packs to several charitable organizations: Mama Hope Haven of Norway in General Trias, Samaritan’s Place, Angel’s Hope Foundation, and Life Child Asia Foundation, all in Silang Cavite, as well as Bahay Aruga and House of Somang in Paranaque City.

“Christmas is a season of giving and sharing. At MPT South, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. More than just delivering presents to these kids, our goal is to share the true warmth of the holiday spirit. Our commitment goes beyond tollways. Through community engagement initiatives like this, we aspire to contribute to the overall well-being of the areas where we operate,” expressed Arlette Capistrano, MPT South Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management.

MPT SOUTH 2023 CSR PROGRAMS

Beyond the ‘Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South,’ the toll road company has actively embraced community engagement throughout the year. More than 3,000 beneficiaries have benefited from its various CSR programs, including residents, students, drivers, and even pets.

Drayberks Road Safety Caravan

In commemoration of Road Safety Month last May, MPT South expanded its award-winning ‘Drayberks’ road safety caravan into ‘Drayberks B.I.S.A (Buhay Ingatan, Sasakya’y Alagaan)’—a vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting seminar conducted in collaboration with Cavite State University (CvSU).

This initiative, hosted in public spaces like malls and transport terminals, imparted valuable knowledge to over 300 PUV drivers, traffic enforcers, and members of transport groups, promoting a culture of safety and responsible vehicle care.  Simultaneously, the regular ‘Drayberks’ caravan continued throughout the year in different locations, attracting a total of 377 participants from Nuvali, the Philippine Navy, and the Traffic Management Department and Fleet Personnel of the Cavite Provincial Office.

‘Bayani Ka’ Caravan

Recognizing that road safety education should not be limited to adults, MPT South extended its efforts to children as well, instilling road safety awareness to over 500 students and in 6 sessions of the ‘Bayani Ka'(Bayani ng Kalsada) caravan, in various public schools and shelters.

The Road Safety Caravan involved interactive storytelling conducted by volunteer employees of MPT South and the distribution of ‘Bayani Ka’ activity books produced by the toll road company.

A.K.O Donation

MPT South embraced the community pantry concept that gained popularity during the pandemic and established a donation corner within its office premises called A.K.O (Alagang Kapwa Oras-Oras).

Through contributions from department offices and employees, the toll road company assisted eight communities and charity organizations in Cavite and Laguna, offering essential items such as school supplies, relief goods, vitamins, and medicines for children and senior citizens.

Alagang MPT South Medical Mission

This year, MPT South’s annual Medical Mission successfully provided free medical services, including general and pediatric check-ups, circumcision, and a feeding program, to 1,099 individuals from communities within its alignment.

This was possible through partnerships with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command, LGUs, and City Health Offices of General Trias, Imus, Santa Rosa, and Parañaque City.

Love Pets, Save Lives

Finally, the toll road company maintained its partnership with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to carry out the Love Pets, Save Lives animal welfare program.

This initiative involved the promotion of Responsible Pet Ownership among adjacent communities as well as providing free spaying and neutering services, and in some legs vaccinations and pet microchipping, for a total of 1,009 puspin (native cats) and aspin (native dogs), to address the issue of stray animals wandering along expressways in a more sustainable and compassionate manner. MPT South has taken the lead as the first toll road company to launch an animal welfare program.

These community engagement initiatives demonstrate MPT South’s commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, extending its efforts beyond tollways to make a positive impact on the well-being of the communities it serves.

MPT South is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC). It holds the concession for the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), its C5 Link Segment, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). Aside from the CALAX and CAVITEX network of toll roads, MPTC’s domestic portfolio includes the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the NLEX Connector Road, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
